Face Painting Crash Course for Beginners

The beginner face painter’s crash course! Half day or evening class – 3hrs.

Ever wanted to have a go at face painting or body art but didn’t know where to begin? Maybe you’ve been co-opted into face painting at your local school fete or charitable event and need some skills fast? Then register for this face painting workshop, run by multi-award winning face and body artist Susanne “Suedy” Daoud.

Designed as a face painting tasting plate, this fun class is the perfect place to begin to see if you like it before spending money on a kit. We provide all materials and equipment, go through kit setup, give you the basics of best health and safety practices, and explore some foundation skills through a practical hands-on workshop. Suedy will demonstrate some basic face painting techniques through a few of the most popular designs, and you get to paint along and have a go.

Finally you can ask the questions you’ve been dying to ask and get helpful answers from an experienced professional. A crash-course in the absolute basics for busy people on a budget, this class is perfect for beginners, or for people who are a wee bit rusty on their painting skills and need a refresher course.

Design Bootcamp for Face Painters

Full day class – 6hrs including lunch break

Sick of painting the same old butterfly over and over? Has your tiger lost its roar? Could your fairy sparkle harder? This workshop is all about looking at your designs with fresh eyes to take your work to the next level.

In this class we will discuss focal points, placement, colour choice, the latest in professional products and tools, and simple techniques that will really make your designs pop. Suedy will demonstrate her own take on several popular designs, and take requests for designs you really want to learn.

You will also have time to workshop your own designs and get friendly constructive feedback. All class members are requested to bring a picture of at least one design that they have painted and would like to improve upon, to work on in class. This class will help you really up the ante and take a big leap in the quality of the work you produce.

Details:

Bring: Your minimised kit, and a practice surface (diary/board/head/etc.) or a mirror if you prefer to practice on yourself. Please bring a picture of at least one design you’ve painted that you’d like to improve upon.
Skill level: Recommended for beyond-beginner to intermediate face and body painters. This is not a beginners class.
Assumed knowledge: You should be fairly confident in basic skills such as applying and blending a sponge base, basic line work/brush control, and one-stroke painting, and have your own kit including quality water-based face paints from reputable brands (e.g. TAG, Paradise AQ, etc.).

Doggy Designs Face Painting Workshop

Your pussy cats may be purring, but are your puppies a bit ruff? When a child asks for a specific dog breed do you run away with your tail between your legs? Join multi-award winning face and body painter (and self-confessed crazy dog lady) Susanne Daoud for this full-day face painting workshop to turn your subwoofers into Best In Show.

In the morning we will explore the elements that make a face truly canine, and demonstrate how to incorporate these to create any breed of dog. After a brief lunch break we will troubleshoot and workshop your poochy designs until they look fetching. This workshop will not only improve your doggy designs, but you’ll pick up tips, tricks and techniques to enhance any animal design.

Advanced Body Painting Workshop

Full day class – 6hrs including lunch break

NOTE: This workshop is for those who have already got some face painting or makeup artistry experience under their belts, and are looking to advance their body painting skills. If you have little or no experience in face & body painting, it is recommended that you start by attending a face painting workshop to gain some knowledge, foundation skills, and experience with the products and tools. It’s better to start small in the beginning, and work your way up to body painting when you’re more confident with your foundation skills.

This workshop will prepare you for every part of the body painting process, so that you can confidently enter body art competitions, or consider adding some body painting to your offering of professional services.
